Google Analytics
Google Analytics offers the best way to track your websites performance. It is a FREE service but you need to install the tracking code on your site. This is quite simple, just ask your webmaster to do it for you or download a trial copy of Adobe Contribute and add it according to the instructions that Google provides. Make sure the Analytics is associated with a Google Account that you have control over, not your webmasters account.
Google Places
Google Places is a chance at reaching the top of the Search Results without paying an SEO of PPC Expert tons of money or following all of the other steps usually required to get to the top positions. Think of it like a short cut for local companies. Will it always work? No. But it is a key part of your web strategy whether it does or not. If you have not claimed and optimized your Places Page, get busy. The ones that are 100% (not 90%) completed and have lots of review showing up are the ones that stand a chance of showing up on top. It is really a function of how competitive your industry or service is on the web in your local area.
